Safety Code Task Force Chronology

ESTABLISHMENT - CSHB269(Fin) - Created a Safety Code Task Force to recommend on
  adoption of a single set of codes with limited input from local jurisdictions. 
September 5, 2003 - First Safety Code Task Force meeting to discuss and make
  recommendations on the methods and authority for local governments to amend and
  administer safety codes.  No results or minutes have been reported to Alaska Codes.

September 12, 2003 - Task Force met.  No results or minutes have been reported to Alaska
  Codes.
September 26, 2003 - Task Force met.

October 10, 2003 - Task Force metState Building and Safety Code Commission Proposed.

October 24, 2003 - Task Force meetingCANCELLED
December 5, 2003 - Task Force meeting. CANCELLED
December 9, 2003 - Task Force met to Finalize Recommendations. The Task Force decided
  to recommend creation of a State Building and Safety Code Commission
with existing
  departments enforcing the codes they currently enforce without listing the codes (there was
  discussion of adding mechanical inspection under Department of Labor and still leaving
  mechanical plan review under Department of Public Safety); strive for a one-stop permitting,
  review and inspection center; and for adoption of a statewide residential building code.

Common Sense Codes for Alaska

An organization calling itself "Common Sense Codes for Alaska" has been formed. 
Their goals include making suggestions to the Task Force on adoption and agencies
that will adopt codes. They have representation from a number of organizations, city
governments and private companies and are looking for others who might want to get
